34th Metro Manila Film Festival: December 25 to January 5 (List of Films, Schedule and Awards Night)

The Metro Manila Development Authority continues organizing the Annual Metro Manila Film Festival, which is expected to run from December 25 to January 5, 2009. Unlike last year wherein there were two batches of films shown in the cinema, the first is on December 25 and the next one was January 1, this year, all eight official entries will be simultaneously shown on Christmas Day.

For the 34th Metro Manila Film Festival, these locally produced film will be shown all over the Philippines for ten days. The official entries were composed of four comedy films, two drama movies, a horror trilogy and an animated film.

Films in competition in Metro Manila Film Festival 2008 are:

There is only one question running in the minds of Filipino people now- who will take home the following prestigious Metro Manila Film Festival Awards? Categories are: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor in a Lead Role, Best Actress in a Lead Role, Best Actor in a Supporting Role, Best Actress in a Supporting Role, Best Sceenplay, Best Story, Best Cinematography, Best Sound, Best Visual Effects, Best Production Design, Best Editing, Best Make-Up, Best Musical Score, Best Theme Song, Best Child Performer, and Top Grossing Movie House. The special awards are for Gatpuno Antonio J. Villegas Cultural Award and Most Gender Sensitive Film.

The awarding ceremony of the 34th MMFF is slated to take place on December 27 (Saturday) starting 6:30pm. The trophies will be handed out at the Harbor Garden Tent, Sofitel Phil. Plaza. Afterwards, the musical concert Katy will be presented by KC Concepcion and Jericho Rosales along with other performers.
