BOYS OVER FLOWERS MANIA IN THE PHILIPPINES
“Hook na hook na ba kayo?”. Joon Pyo,(Lee Min Hoo) Ji Hoo,(Kim Hyun-Joong) Woo Bin,(Kim Joon) and Yi Jeong(Kim Bum) the 4 famous character in the romantic comedy series Boys Over Flowers the Korean version, and the sweet young lady Jan Di portrayed by Kyo Hye Sun. This Korean novela was an adaptation of the Japanese manga story, The Hana Yori Dango. This is the third television version of the said story after the Taiwanese F4 and the Japanese Hana Yori Dango.
The Hana Yori Dango is all about a second year high school, Geum Jan-di, who studies in a rich, prestigious school known as Shinhwa. The school is famous for having rich students and she, the poor young girl gets admitted after saving a student from committing suicide. At the school, she met people with various personalities. There are the mean girls, fake friends, and last but not the least: The F4 or the Flower 4. The F4 consists of 4 people: Goo Jun Pyo, Yoon Ji Hoo, So Yi Jung, and Song Woo Bin. Goo Jun Pyo is the leader of the F4 and is also the heir of the Shinhwa group. At first, he insults and makes Geum Jan-di’s life very miserable after she humiliates him. The only person who seemed to have sympathy and care for her was Ji Hoo, who saved her many times. However, as the drama progressed, Goo Jun Pyo developed a feeling for Geum Jan-di and it turned out to be a twisted love triangle between Geum Jan Di, Goo Jun Pyo and Yoon Ji Hoo.
This Romantic comedy drama was aired at ABS-CBN last May 11 on its primetime block and eventually change to its new timeslot 6:00 pm due to public demand. If you love light, romantic-comedy story, surely you will love the the series of Boys Over Flowers.
