Dingdong Dantes To Play Cholo in GMA’s Stairway to Heaven Remake
It was formally announced yesterday, May 10, by Gma7 top executives that Dingdong Dantes will play the role of Cholo in Staiway to Heaven – a hit Koreanovela. After the SOP show,a presscon which was attended by different entertainment press was held at the GMA Network Center Executive Lounge.
When the actor was asked about his preparations for this upcoming remake, he said, he needs to watch Stairway to heaven first so he would know the story. He added that he needs to put some Pinoy touch to it. “Paminsan minsan kasi, napapanood ko ito noon, pero hindi ko nabuo ang story. Pero ngayong narito na, mixed emotions ako – excited, doble kaba. Naroon na ang challenge, but I’m optimistic.” the actor expressed.
If we have Dingdong for Cholo, then who would play Jodi? There were rumors that Jennylyn Mercado will play the said role but there are no confirmations yet about the lucky actress who will take the role.

Hope c jen na nga dahil magkahawig cla ni jodi mga chinita at saka ang character ni jen at jodi ay hindi magkalayo. Puede na c jen sa heavy drama ang husay niya katunayan sa PBAM niya, talagang versatile cya, marunong cyang umarte, natural lang cya.

I think Dennis Trillo would be better to play as “Cholo” because of his grief-stricken facial expression when crying.Choi ji Woo’s role is tough in this series and I think Jolina Magdangal could touch the viewer if she would be chosen…I hope GMA makes justice on this series because this is one of my favorite Asian drama of all time….^_^
i hope jennylyn will be chosen to play jodi. i love that koreanovela. dingdong and jennylyn seems like a good match for these roles. me and my friends are all excited for this to start.
For the 2nd time, I have finished watching STH last night. The first time I watched was June last year. I didn’t watch this when shown on GMA. I don’t like the way GMA dubs koreanovelas, or maybe it’s just that I am not Kapuso. I’ve never seen or heard Dingdong did a drama project but I’m sure the role does not fit to DingDong. In charge of this project should consider the “eyes” of the lead actors. Just look at how Kwon Sang Woo portray his emotions with his eyes only, without saying a word. This drama is so great. I hope GMA won’t destroy it.

The idea of having Dingdong as the cholo of STH is ridiculous True, he is hot and gwapo, but he doesnt have the caliber of a good actor! Pang Billboard lang naman sya eh. Hindi sya magaling magdala ng emotion…very awkward. Tapos makokompare mo lang sila sa pag acting talaga ng original na cholo na ngayon nasa Cruel Love..Tignan nyo nga! Ang layo talaga…Si Piolo pa pwede, pero di naman sya kapuso….wala akong napapansing magagaling na actor sa gma..bakit kaya..I bet its an awful remake, katulad nung all about eve. nalungkot talafga ako kasi fave ko yung all about eve eh..tapos pangit ang pagkaremake..kaya, please lang sana tigilan nyo na yan, nakakadisappoint eh. Ang My girl siguro talaga ang successful na remake tsaka ang only you pala ni angel..the best!
