After so much emotional(his mother’s death last August 28) and physical(practicing for the concert) stress, Ely Buendia was again operated on today (Angioplasty) widening his blood vessels to prevent chest pains and major heart attack. This has been confirmed by his manager Day Cabuhat on the news today.
Sad news for Eraserheads fans, and those who have been waiting for so long for the Eraserheads Reunion concert last Saturday, August 30 at The Fort, Taguig City.
Right now, Ely Buendia is recuperating at the Philippine Heart Center and is expected to fully recover, according to the latest updates on his condition. Remember that Ely already had two previous angioplasty operations, brought about by a heart attack last January 2007. Ely has shied away from alcohol and cigarettes since, but recent happenings took too much toll in his health. Last week, Eraserheads fans were saddened and bothered by the news that Ely’s mother died from cardiac arrest, and some even predicted that the reunion concert will no longer push through. But even with the tragedy, Ely decided to perform with his former bandmates last Saturday, and had to pull out in the middle of the first-half of the performance.
I am an Eraserheads fan myself and I hope Ely Buendia, one of the best Filipino musicians, recovers and continue bringing us his music.
