Update June 27, 2008:
1. Rescue operations have been halted because of 10 tons of poisonous pesticide in the ships cargo hold. The divers have been sent back to Manila for medical examinations.
2. Because of this, it will take longer for the bodies to be pulled out, infuriating the already emotionally-unstable relatives of those passengers aboard.
3. In the Board of Marines hearing today, Sulpicio Lines blamed PAGASA for being incompetent in reporting the news about typhoon Frank. Of course this is just a lame attempt from the company, and because of this stupid move, they only angered the investigation board.
Update June 26, 2008:
1. The total number of survivors is officially at 42, but there are no updates on the names from the Sulpicio Lines Website.
2. Some dead bodies found on the shores of Burias Island and other towns have already been buried, the townsmen saying that the bodies are already decaying and giving foul smell. Why haven’t Sulpicio Lines given aid to these cases? And why is our government unable to help them?
3. Families of the passengers were promised they will be taken to Cebu to identify the bodies of their relatives, but so far, all promises by the ship company are not being upheld.
4. The Search and Rescue Team still hopes to “rescue” passengers after finding air pockets inside the submerged ship. At this rate they have reported that it will take at least a month for them to get all the bodies out.
Update June 24, 2008:
Divers have already entered the submerged and overturned ship and have found many bodies. The rescue team said that they are still having problems because waves are still strong and it is dark inside the ship.
Update June 22, 2008:
MV Princess of the Stars of Sulpicio Lines capsized off Sibuyan Island in the central province of Romblon at 6 p.m. Saturday June 21, 2008. So far, the National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC) and the Coast Guard has dispatched two ships, BRP Pampanga and BRP Davao del Norte, with two others being readied for deployment, to rescue the estimated 700 passengers which are aboard the ship. Reports confirmed that the ship MV Princess of the Stars are seen upside down with a big gaping hole in the middle. Reports said that there was engine failure and all of this happened at the height of the onslaught of Typhoon Frank (international codename Fengshen).
The rescue vessels of the Philippine Coast Guard have already reached the site after 3 p.m. on Sunday (today June 22, 2008), around one nautical mile (estimated at 1.5 kilometers) from the seashore of Sitio Cabitangahan, Taclobo, San Fernando town in Romblon. They confirmed that the passenger sea vessel has sunk. Sadly, the initial reports are that no signs of life are seen at the site of the tragedy. They are also currently searching the beaches near the site and have found some dead bodies. (Please see the report below for the complete description of the people found). Rescuers have tried knocking on the upturned portion (hull and keel) of the ship but so far have not heard any survivors therein.

We can only hope that there are still survivors who have found refuge on the floating debris of the ship. For those of you who can read this, PLEASE DO PRAY FOR THE SURVIVORS and the rescuers.
Here’s the latest report of the tragedy taken from Inquirer.Net website.
Commander Antonio Cuasito, chief of staff of the Coast Guard District Central-Eastern Visayas said search and rescue vessel BRP Batangas manned by Lt. Commander Nilbert Aniversaryo first sighted the ill-fated vessel at 12:30 p.m.
“Coast Guard personnel on board the BRP Batangas sighted MV Princess of the Stars upturned and only her astern keel portion visible 1 nautical mile away from the shoreline of sitio Cabitangahan, Raclobo, San Fernando,” Cuasito said.
In Manila, Coast Guard spokesperson, Lt. Armand Balilo, said based on the initial reports he received, the rescue team failed to find any people or even flotation devices like lifejackets in the area. Rescuers, he said, have been scouring shoreline.
BRP Batangas left Cebu at 8 p.m. on Saturday, but it only arrived in the area at past 12 noon on Sunday because of the strong waves.
As of 3 p.m., rescuers from BRP Batangas tried to reach the astern keel portion of the vessel through two rubber boats.
Cuasito said they tried to knock at the astern keel portion in the hope that there were people alive inside.
Cuasito, however, said he had not received any report yet of any signs of life inside the vessel.
He said their divers would try to swim inside the vessel to check on trapped passengers.
As of 3 p.m., Cuasito said only two survivors were found, while six others were confirmed dead.
MV Princess of the Stars, owned by Sulpicio Lines, was carrying at least 747 passengers and crew when it left the port of Manila for Cebu on Friday. It was supposed to arrive 5 p.m. Saturday in Cebu when it encountered rough waters off Sibuyan Island in Romblon at around noon of Saturday and sent out a distress signal shortly before 5 p.m.
An elderly man and woman, believed to be a couple, were found dead with their hands tied to each other at the waters off San Fernando, Cuasito said.
A woman in her 30s with a ring marked “Rose” and who was wearing a black blouse and denim pants and another woman in her 50s with moles on the left cheek, left nose and below her right eye wearing brown pants were found dead in the shoreline of sitio Cabitangahan, Taclobo, San Fernando.
Cuasito said that in another coastal village of Mabini, a woman and a child were also found dead.
But two male survivors were found in the village of Espana but their identities were still not known, he said.
Over 200 worried relatives of passengers crowded the office of the Sulpicio Lines in Cebu to get updates on their loved ones, but officials of the company could not give immediate and specific reports.
Many relatives, angered by the lack of news on the whereabouts of their missing kin, blamed the shipping company for the tragedy.
The rescue efforts are being hampered by big waves caused by the storm.

I just want to say that everyone of us are not perfect but one I can say is tragedy is given to us in the sense of remembering our Father who created us. So, in everything happens there’s a reason and there’s a purpose…It is not easy to accept the reality but we need to adjust the situation and we don’t forget to pray God because God is everything to us he’s the one can strengthen us…If there’s a problem …there’s alway’s a solution….Faith and trust God for the betterment of all the people…God bless and hope that everyone would cooperate the situation.

Lord, on behalf of the survivors and their family, we are very thankful You have given them another chance. May they realized what happened and may that tragedy change them for the better and will teach them to always come and obey You. For the family of those who unfortunately died and still missing, this is my way of helping them. Above all, I know this is the most powerful one that’s why I am praying for them. May you guide them Lord, if this is your way of teaching us a lesson, we will accept it though difficult and really so hard. May those who are all affected and who knew this tragedy will change their attitude and may they learn to obey you always before its too late. Thank you Lord and May you bless the grieving family. Amen

What’s wrong with this government? what’s wrong with this shipping company? What’s wrong with you people?…..because it’s all about money…freak’n corrupt government! Sulpicio Line has been had a bad reputation… Sorry, I’m just mad about everything because it was preventable just because of these careless, selfish bastards. And I don’t think it’s God’s will…to let this things happened. God never hurt his children…GOD IS LOVE and the author of HAPPINESS! Satan is evil and perverted! and he is the author of the opposite! SADNESS AND CONFUSION!
SO, please repent people….and follow his COMMANDMENT!
JESUS, PLEASE HELP ALL THE VICTIMS OF THIS TRAGEDY…SAVE THEM FATHER…GIVE US COMFORT AND PEACE OF MIND…AND FOR MY FRIEND AND DEAR CLASSMATE SIMPLICIO APAD III….WE’RE STILL WAITING FOR HIS RETURN

evrything happens for a reason! As they says, but whats the reason behind this taking lives of our country mens and our loved ones? why do those little kids have to suffer loosing their loved one, or even their lives, why do this old mens have to died this way yes their counting the days of living but in a happy contented way should they rest, why do they have to suffer?
a lot of questions was in my freakin mind, I dont have anybody in the ship but my heart swells with pain everytime I see those dead bodies comming out of that evil ship, why do they have to die this way, we have run through a lot, storm earthquakes, landslide, eruption, and evrytime there is somebody sacrificing their life even the little lives
when are we all gonna waked up! Its a calling people dont be blind to see whats going on, please lets stop our selfsish hearts desire from wanting more materials things, lets think of those things that will lift us up…
we should not blame, just to have somebody to blame, we should count each and every one of us, maybe just maybe we have a littlest fault on our own way through all this.
let us all pray for those soul who are trapped inside the evil ship, may your soul be freed from pain and grieving, may you all rest in peace in the hands of our lord god. for those loved ones may hearts be cured with one touch of an angel…
PEOPLE WE SHOULD ALL WAKED UP!
MY CONDOLENCES

condolences to all the families of the victims.
I know how hard this situation is. I may not have any relatives on board, still, i continue to pray that everyone will have a PEACE OF MIND and that this tragedy will never happen again. May this serve us a reminder to us to always value life and never forget to pray to the father. Let us STOP BLAMING each other and instead help one another and offer a prayer for those who have lost their families. Let us be thankful to God for giving the survivors a second chance. Let us hope that the victims will find their way home. May the dead rest in peace and be happy with the father.

I would like to extend my sympathy to all involved but im sick of those who always say sulpicio lines are so slow to act. YOUR GOVERNMENT IS SLOW! AND THE ONE TO BE BLAMED. Im sure sulpicio lines will continue to operate after this and another incident like this will happen again and again. And where’s your president now? does she know what’s going on to her country? Our media as well are siding the goverment and not the people. They say malacanyang ay nagbigay nang tulong. What d! It don’t seem like it’s the governments obligation to its people to provide like a mother feeding her helpless baby. May be this is the way we are Filipinos. I am so proud that we get up on our feet and survive. God designed Filipinos to be tough and that’s what we are. Continue to do good to our fellas. Its the good people who made a country. Nevermind the govenment.

I bet you…days from today Sulpicio Lines will operate again as if walay’s nahitabo. This is not a new issues that we have to stop blaming on them and this corrupt government. Of course, I have to blamed them…..WHO ELSE CAN BE! as you see on TV, as you read in the newspapers….everything are just bullshits! You may laugh how stupid they are…you may punch your wall because you’re pissed off of them. But what can we do? our life is just that worthless in their eyes- THIS GOVERNMENT!
