From This Moment Of Singlehood

Shania Twain and her husband, music producer Robert ‘Mutt’ Lange parted ways after 14 years of marriage. Spokesman Jason Owen announced the separation in a statement.
Twain, 42, and Lange, 59, married in 1993, just six months after meeting. They are parents to a 6-year-old son, Eja D’Angelo. Apparently the love that has been based on friendship and compatibility drifted apart.
In early 2000, press reports surfaced that their then seven-year marriage was in trouble, but the couple remained together. Around the same time, Twain all but disappeared from public life, retreating to Tour-de-Peilz, Switzerland.
“It’s just an unfortunate thing that’s happened,” Lange told the PEOPLE magazine shortly after the couple’s separation was announced Thursday. “It’s literally just a growing apart, that’s all.”
A source close to Twain also shared that the singer didn’t expect the split. “She’s devastated,” another source says. “She’s getting through it with a very close-knit group of family and friends.”
