Watch Michael Phelps’ Olympic Record Breaking 8 Gold Medals (Video and Pictures)
Update: Michael Phelps and USA WINNER in the 4×100 Medley Relay; Phelps wins his 8th Gold Medal
Michael Phelps, the greatest Olympian ever by winning 7 Gold Medals in this Beijing Olympics 2008 (which tied his total with Mark Spitz’ 36 year-old medal haul) and getting 13 Golds all-in-all (15 with 2 Bronzes), will try to get his 8th medal in today’s 4×100 Individual Medley today at the Water Cube, and set the stage for future Olympian swimmers and athletes. You can watch the race today at 10:30am onwards, and you should catch it by any means before it becomes history.
Phelps won 6 gold medals at Athens, and was predicted to get all 8 golds in the events he joined for this Games. After getting six world records and 2 picture-perfect come from behind victories (the first one courtesy of his teammate Jason Lezak in the 4×100m freestyle, and the latest one his highly-disputed win over a Serbian in the 100m Fly where he won with a hundredth of a second), Phelps will forever cement his Olympic legacy with an almost sure win in the US favorite event 4×100 individual medley, where most Americans are the top contenders. They will have some resistance against the team from Australia, but nonetheless, the team will cruise to this last hurdle with another world record and give Phelps his eighth gold.
